Job Description:

Join HSBC and be part of a team dedicated to creating impactful technology solutions. The Consultant Specialist role involves full stack development, support for DevOps teams, utilizing BigData technologies, and ensuring service resilience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support across the end-to-end delivery and run lifecycle, utilising skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities
  • End-to-end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand and drive the product or service’s direction
  • Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimize variation and ensure predictable high-quality code and data
  • Create technical test plans and records, including unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality
  • Provide support to DevOps teams working at all stages of a product or service release/change with a strong customer focus
  • Work with Ops, Dev, and Test Engineers to address operational issues at all stages of a product or service release/change
  • Support identification and resolution of all incidents associated with the IT service
  • Ensure service resilience, sustainability, and recovery time objectives for delivered software solutions
  • Automate the continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline within a DevOps Product/Service team
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Stay updated and knowledgeable about current tools, technologies, cyber security, and regulations.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is typically required
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in software development, with a focus on full stack development
  • Strong proficiency in BigData skill set, including knowledge of programming languages such as Scala, Python
  • Familiarity with frameworks and libraries like Spark
  • Proficiency in database management and design, including SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of data modeling and query optimization
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, including experience with version control systems like Git, cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, and containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, design scalable solutions, and implement them effectively
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in a team environment
  • Thorough understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices
  • Knowledge of best practices for software development, code documentation, and testing
  • Strong desire for continuous learning and adaptability to new technologies and frameworks.
