An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant Radiologist with a sub-speciality interest in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology to join a dynamic, forward-thinking radiology team in the South West. This is a substantive post within a well-established and highly collaborative department that offers a diverse caseload, including work at a tertiary and quaternary centre for trauma, orthopaedics, plastics, and complex spine. The successful candidate will join a multi-modality imaging service with an emphasis on MSK imaging and interventions, while also contributing to general radiology and acute imaging services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide high-quality MSK radiology services including CT, MRI, plain film reporting, ultrasound, and interventional procedures
  • Conduct hands-on diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound-guided MSK procedures
  • Participate in general radiology services, including acute trauma imaging
  • Support general orthopaedic imaging and management as part of a multidisciplinary approach
  • Take part in the 1:18 general radiology on-call rota (1.0 PA allocation)
  • Provide input to multidisciplinary team meetings and patient-facing clinics where appropriate
  • Support service development initiatives within MSK radiology, including advancing the roles of reporting and interventional radiographers
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities
  • Participate in teaching, training, and supervision of radiology trainees, radiographers, and medical students
  • Lead or contribute to departmental non-clinical activities and innovation projects, with opportunities to take on additional Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs)

Requirements:

  • FRCR (or equivalent)
  • CCT in Clinical Radiology (or within 6 months of achieving it at the time of interview)
  • GMC Specialist Register (or eligibility within 6 months)
  • Competency in MSK ultrasound and injections
  • Skilled in soft tissue and bone biopsies
  • Experience in emergency radiology and trauma imaging

Nice to have:

  • Experience working within a major trauma centre or tertiary MSK setting
  • Involvement in teaching, audit, or research
