Job Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist to join a well-established and forward-thinking Medical Imaging department in the North West. The successful applicant will join a large, cohesive consultant body that delivers high-quality diagnostic imaging services and contributes to service development, teaching, audit, and governance. The department provides a comprehensive general radiology service with access to modern imaging equipment and strong multidisciplinary collaboration. Subspecialty interests are welcomed and actively supported.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide a high-quality general radiology service, including: CT
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound
  • Plain film reporting
  • Develop and, where appropriate, lead a subspecialty interest aligned with departmental needs
  • Participate in a consultant on-call rota with out-of-hours reporting supported by teleradiology services
  • Contribute to MDT meetings and clinico-radiological conferences
  • Support service delivery across multiple imaging modalities to meet national diagnostic standards
  • Work collaboratively with radiographers, sonographers, trainees, and administrative staff
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and risk management activities
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision of trainees and other clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with professional standards
  • Engage in service planning, leadership, and departmental development

Requirements:

  • FRCR or equivalent
  • Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months via CCT/CESR)
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Proven competency across general radiology modalities (CT, MRI, ultrasound, plain film)
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical environment
  • Participation in audit, governance, and quality improvement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a consultant team
  • Leadership skills with a commitment to service improvement
  • Understanding of NHS clinical governance and service delivery
