Job Description:

A fixed-term opportunity is available for a Consultant Radiologist to join a well-established Imaging department delivering comprehensive diagnostic services within a modern acute setting. The role combines general radiology responsibilities with subspecialty interests, with strong MDT involvement and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. While subspecialty expertise is welcomed, the post retains a significant commitment to general cross-sectional reporting and service provision.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver a comprehensive general radiology service, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and plain film reporting
  • Provide subspecialty imaging support aligned with experience and departmental needs
  • Participate actively in MDT meetings and cancer pathway discussions
  • Undertake cross-sectional imaging reporting and support timely diagnostic pathways
  • Contribute to non-vascular interventional procedures where appropriate
  • Participate in the Consultant on-call rota, including remote reporting where required
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship for junior doctors and radiographers
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities
  • Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, governance, and appraisal processes
  • Support service development and collaborative multidisciplinary working

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Full FRCR qualification
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Experience in general cross-sectional radiology reporting
  • Ability to contribute to MDT pathways and multidisciplinary working
  • Strong general radiology reporting skills across modalities
  • Ability to manage both elective and emergency imaging workload
  • Understanding of MDT processes and cancer pathway imaging
  • Evidence of participation in audit and clinical governance
  • Commitment to CPD and revalidation
  • Willingness to teach and supervise junior staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to service delivery
  • Ability to balance general and subspecialty workload
