Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Interventional Radiology to join a growing and highly supportive Radiology Directorate in North West England. This role is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified Consultants seeking to develop their careers within a modern radiology service that continues to invest significantly in diagnostic and interventional imaging. The successful candidate will join an established team of Consultant Radiologists delivering comprehensive diagnostic and interventional radiology services across multiple sites while benefiting from opportunities in leadership, service development, teaching, research, and flexible working arrangements.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide a comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective Clinical Radiology service
  • Deliver a broad range of Interventional Radiology procedures and services
  • Participate in diagnostic reporting across multiple imaging modalities
  • Perform image-guided interventional procedures, including vascular and non-vascular interventions
  • Provide expert radiological opinions for emergency, inpatient, and elective cases
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and cancer pathways
  • Support trauma and emergency radiology services
  • Contribute to the interpretation and authorisation of imaging studies
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes
  • Assist in the development of clinical policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures
  • Work collaboratively with clinicians across multiple specialities
  • Support service planning, business development, and innovation initiatives
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and risk management activities
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior doctors and trainees

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • FRCR or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Radiology, or within six months of CCT/CESR completion
  • Subspecialty training in Interventional Radiology
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • High level of clinical expertise in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology
  • Ability to independently manage complex radiological cases
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team participation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to clinical governance and patient safety
  • Ability to participate in on-call and emergency cover
  • Strong organisational and workload management skills
  • Commitment to teaching and professional development
