The Team is one of the Trust's pilot sites for the Community Transformation work. You will be an active member in supporting the Trust and your team during this process. The job is a 8PAs a week over 4 days and you will be working alongside the multidisciplinary team, including junior doctors, and wider clinical teams, you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team. The post holder will offer medical input to the Step up hub team South Tyneside. The Step up Hub team Provides an enhanced intensity of interventions to patients with high complex needs , usually in stepped care or supported accommodation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide Consultant clinical leadership to the service
Assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for their proportion of patients
Assume Responsible Clinician status for patients under their care, including patients subject to Community Treatment Orders
Take a lead on compliance with the Mental Health Act and CQC requirements
Participate in the assessment of patients referred to the service and in drawing up care plans
Carry out detailed psychiatric assessments of patients as clinically indicated
Contribute to treatment plans, including pharmacological management of psychotropic medication
Forge good working relationships with other psychiatrists
Provide consultation and advice to members of the MDT and primary care colleagues
Offer medical input to the Step up hub team South Tyneside
Requirements:
MBBS (or equivalent)
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Approved Clinician Status
Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
Experience of Clinical Audit
High level of clinical skills
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teaching skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Able to sustain self and support others
Trustworthiness
Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
Maturity, openness and flexibility
Nice to have:
MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multiagency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Experience in service management or development
Established record of clinical leadership
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
