Job Description:

Opportunity for a Psychiatrist with an interest in the field of psychological trauma with the intent of working in the in-patient unit of Psychological Trauma Recovery Service (PTRS). The Inpatient Unit of PTRS, Ward 17, specialises in treating and supporting individuals with various psychological trauma backgrounds. Ward 17 is a 20-bed psychiatric open ward, and most patients have a voluntary status.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing expert treatment to individuals and their families experiencing mental health conditions that have arisen as a result of, or have been exacerbated by, the experience of traumatic events or occupational trauma and stress
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team including consultant psychiatrist, psychiatry registrars, nursing, occupational therapist, social worker, welfare worker and ancillary staff
  • Participating in the Austin Health performance appraisal programme
  • Being involved in teaching, training and research activities

Requirements:

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or equivalent
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of neuropsychiatry
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research
