MBBS (or equivalent)
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT

Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation

Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings

Job Responsibility

Provide Consultant clinical leadership to the service
Assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for proportion of patients
Assume Responsible Clinician status for patients under care, including patients subject to Community Treatment Orders
Take lead on compliance with Mental Health Act and CQC requirements
Participate in assessment of patients referred to service
Draw up care plans addressing psychiatric, physical, and social needs
Carry out detailed psychiatric assessments of patients
Contribute to treatment plans including pharmacological management of psychotropic medication
Forge good working relationships with other psychiatrists across Directorate
Provide consultation and advice to members of MDT and primary care colleagues
