An exciting opportunity to work as an inpatient old age consultant psychiatrist in a male dementia assessment unit.
Job Responsibility:
Hold RC responsibility for patients admitted to the unit
Provide medical leadership to the MDT
Provide senior expertise in the assessment and treatment of adults over age 65 years presenting cognitive impairment and comorbid conditions
Work with colleagues of other professional disciplines to provide a tailored multidisciplinary package of assessment and of treatment
Requirements:
MBBS, MRCPsych (or equivalent)
Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
Included on GMC Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or included within six months of CCT
Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
Up to date knowledge and high level of clinical skills and competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in learning disability population
Experience of clinical audit
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teaching skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post

Maturity, openness, and flexibility
Nice to have:
Possess a CCT or (equivalence) in old age Psychiatry
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multi-agency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Established record of clinical leadership
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
Experience in service management or development
