Striving for a better service leads to a better you. And as a specialist in Adult inpatients, you'll know how best to support the patients in our care. An exciting opportunity to work as an inpatient old age consultant psychiatrist in a male dementia assessment unit.

Job Responsibility:

  • Hold RC responsibility for patients admitted to the unit
  • Provide medical leadership to the MDT
  • Provide senior expertise in the assessment and treatment of adults over age 65 years presenting cognitive impairment and comorbid conditions
  • Work with colleagues of other professional disciplines to provide a tailored multidisciplinary package of assessment and of treatment

Requirements:

  • MBBS, MRCPsych (or equivalent)
  • Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
  • Included on GMC Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or included within six months of CCT
  • Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Up to date knowledge and high level of clinical skills and competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in learning disability population
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
  • Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post

  • Maturity, openness, and flexibility

Nice to have:

  • Possess a CCT or (equivalence) in old age Psychiatry
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
  • Has undergone training in educational supervision
  • Has undergone training in appraisal
  • An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
  • Experience in multi-agency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
  • Established record of clinical leadership
  • Established ability as a clinical teacher
  • Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
  • Experience in service management or development
