Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established CTT with several exciting opportunities in the region. This is also an extremely exciting and interesting opportunity to spearhead and contribute towards the development of Hope Haven, Hope Haven - a mental health and wellbeing hub in the heart of Whitehaven and Copeland which is a community partnership initiative between CNTW and several partnership organisations. There is also opportunity to be part of developing ongoing changes within services in the region such as The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) which is also a new venture in the region between university of Cumbria and Imperial college London. The aim is to produce doctors committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare approaches and serve the needs of the Cumbria community. This is a full time (10PA) post for an adult consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the Portland House, 11-12 Portland Square, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA1 1PY. Job Responsibility
Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the CTT
Support the medical workforce on the west CTT
Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams
Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve
To respect the rights and the dignity of patients
To consider the individual and cultural needs of patients
To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers' Charter)
Provide senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health problems and what are termed as at-risk mental states
Requirements
MBBS (or equivalent)
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Approved Clinician Status
Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
Experience of Clinical Audit
High level of clinical skills
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teaching skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Able to sustain self and support others
Trustworthiness
Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
Maturity, openness and flexibility
Nice to have
MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multiagency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Experience in service management or development
Established record of clinical leadership
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
