Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an Inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist in an open rehab 17 bed move-on rehabilitation unit. The Unit is Willow View and is based at St Nicholas Hospital. The role is currently 8 PA and is a fixed term opportunity for twelve months. The postholder would be asked to work flexibly to contribute towards 7 day working arrangement for the inpatient wards working with a senior leadership team on weekends.

Job Responsibility:

Provide senior medical input into Willow View
Provide senior expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex psychosis and rehabilitation needs
Work alongside colleagues of other professional disciplines to provide a tailored multidisciplinary package of treatment and support rehabilitation and recovery
Lead, collaborate and advise on research and audit projects in the team
Work with the senior leadership team flexibly as part of the 7-day working initiative for the acute adult inpatient wards
Provide senior expertise in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis, formulation and initial treatment plans for patients
Respect the rights and dignity of patients, considered the individual and cultural needs of each patient and work with families and carers

Requirements:

MBBS (or equivalent)
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Approved Clinician Status
Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
Experience of Clinical Audit
High level of clinical skills
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teaching skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Able to sustain self and support others
Trustworthiness
Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
Maturity, openness and flexibility
Applicants must have current UK professional registration

Nice to have:

MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multiagency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Experience in service management or development
Established record of clinical leadership
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
