This is a full time (10PA) post for an adult for a consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the East Adult community Treatment and the Early Intervention in Psychosis teams located at Portland House Team located in Carlisle, Cumbria.
Job Responsibility:
Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the EIP
Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams
Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve
To respect the rights and the dignity of patients
To consider the individual and cultural needs of patients
To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers' Charter)
Provide senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health problems and what are termed as at-risk mental states
Requirements:
MBBS (or equivalent)
Registration with GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion or included within six months of CCT/CESR
Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 OR able to achieve within three month of appointment
Approved Clinician Status OR able to achieve within three month of appointment
Up to date knowledge in the relevant field of Psychiatry
Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
Experience of Clinical Audit
High level of clinical skills
Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in the adult population
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Excellent teaching skills
Able to sustain self and support others
Trustworthiness
Maturity, openness and flexibility
Ability to communicate with clarity in spoken and written form
Able to meet the mobility requirement of the post
Punctuality/good time management
Honesty and integrity
Well organised
Nice to have:
MRCPsych
Possess a CCT/CESR in Psychiatry
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multi-agency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Experience in service management or development
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Established record of clinical leadership
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills e.g. a brief form of psychological therapy
