Job Description:

We are recruiting for several fixed-term opportunities until 31 March 2027, with extension possible but not guaranteed. Secondments are very welcome for these roles. This role is to deliver a new project related to habitat regulations and air quality. The position is required to support immediate delivery needs. The organisation is consulting on its operating model. The grade and responsibilities are subject to confirmation.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience working within or alongside local government planning
  • Direct, hands-on experience of producing a Local Plan
  • Understanding of how major planning functions work
  • Confidence in supporting the design and delivery of programmes from the ground up
  • Ability to take ownership of work and adapt as priorities shift
  • Ability to work with people, hold conversations with experienced officers and elected members, and translate needs into concrete next steps
  • Reliable, perceptive, and genuinely invested in the work
  • Right to work in the UK (LGA cannot offer sponsorship visas)
  • Understanding of Local Government and the LGA’s values
  • Experience of the English planning system and the reform agenda
  • Experience in problem-solving and working in partnership with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of improvement and project management
  • Experience of public speaking, report writing, analysis and procurement
  • Experience of local plan production, supporting evidence and community consultation
