An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine to join a leading teaching hospital service in Ireland. This is a Consultant-led role within a large multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the region. This position offers the opportunity to lead and shape geriatric services while contributing to education, governance, and service development within a progressive healthcare environment.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver comprehensive Consultant-led Geriatric Medicine services
Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of older patients
Lead inpatient and outpatient geriatric services
Participate in the Consultant on-call rota
Provide clinical leadership in complex frailty management and rehabilitation pathways
Lead and support a multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing and allied health professionals
Engage collaboratively with local and regional service providers
Contribute to service planning, pathway development and quality improvement initiatives
Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
Engage in audit, clinical governance and research activities
Apply evidence-based clinical decision-making in all aspects of practice
Requirements:
Registered as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland (IMC Specialist Registration)
Proven Consultant-level experience in Geriatric Medicine
Eligible to work in Ireland
Excellent English communication skills
Strong leadership, organisational and team-management capabilities
Evidence-based clinical practice skills
Police Clearance
Must not have worked in Ireland in the past 36 months
Must not have applied for any HSE position within the past 24 months
Nice to have:
A special interest in Stroke Medicine is desirable but not essential
