We are seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery to join our team at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The post is predominantly based at the Children's Hospital, with outreach adult orthopaedic clinics and theatre sessions also required. Sheffield Children's Hospital is a designated Major Trauma Centre, with the Paediatric Orthopaedics Department recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence. Our Paediatric Limb Reconstruction Service is one of the oldest and most established worldwide, supported by a full consultant team and specialist allied health professionals. The department receives tertiary and quaternary referrals from across the UK and overseas, and offers a range of specialist multidisciplinary clinics, including services for Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), Skeletal Dysplasia in collaboration with colleagues in metabolic bone disease, genetics and radiology, and a dedicated Limb Deficiency clinic in partnership with the Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Centre at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Job Responsibility:
On-call duties will include ward rounds and supervision of trainees and fellows
Elective patient care delivered at Sheffield Children's Hospital
Service provision at a peripheral hospital as part of outreach responsibilities
Shared responsibility with consultant colleagues for the effective running of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Unit
Active contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes
Requirements:
GMC Registration
FRCS T&O CCT or equivalent
CCT or equivalent
Recognised Higher Specialist Training Programme
Completion of 2 years of recognised Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Fellowship
ATLS
Appropriate Fellowships
Competence in clinical audit
Able to initiate and execute medical research projects
Publications in peer-reviewed journal
Demonstration of evaluation of outcomes in personal practice
Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors
Knowledge of clinical governance
Demonstrates Clinical Leadership
Work in teams with colleagues from other disciplines
Good communication skills
