Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Orthodontist to join a well-established Consultant-led Orthodontic service in Scotland. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work within a modern multidisciplinary dental team, providing specialist orthodontic care while developing expertise in complex dentofacial, craniofacial and hypodontia cases. Colleagues in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery will support the service and offer excellent opportunities for professional development, teaching, and research.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide Consultant-led diagnostic and advisory orthodontic services
  • Manage patients requiring complex orthodontic treatment
  • Lead the interdisciplinary management of dentofacial, craniofacial and hypodontia cases
  • Participate in multidisciplinary Orthognathic and Craniofacial clinics
  • Plan and manage orthodontic treatment alongside Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery colleagues
  • Provide orthodontic planning for dento-alveolar surgical cases
  • Manage multidisciplinary restorative and oral surgery cases
  • Supervise and support training-grade staff
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities
  • Contribute to departmental leadership and service development

Requirements

  • Full GDC Registration and Licence to Practise
  • BDS or equivalent qualification
  • MOrth RCS (or equivalent)
  • ISFE/FDSRCS in Orthodontics (or equivalent), or within six months of completion
  • Completion of recognised specialist orthodontic training
  • Broad experience in Consultant-level orthodontic practice
  • Experience managing complex dentofacial, craniofacial and hypodontia cases
  • Strong multidisciplinary working skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Commitment to patient safety, clinical governance and continuous improvement
  • Ability to supervise and teach junior staff
