Job Description

We are seeking two enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to join a well-established and expanding department within the Yorkshire and Humber region. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment that delivers high-quality surgical care across several sites in the area. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering and developing leading regional services, working collaboratively within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. All areas of subspecialty practice will be considered, allowing flexibility for candidates to shape their clinical interests within the service. The department has strong links with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS), offering opportunities to teach medical students and participate in postgraduate education. Research and service development are actively encouraged, with support available for those interested in academic or leadership progression.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including outpatient clinics, day surgery, and theatre sessions
  • Participate in the regional on-call rota (1:7), ensuring timely and expert management of emergency cases
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of subspecialty services within the department
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
  • Actively participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across surgical and allied specialities to deliver integrated patient care
  • Support and promote service innovation and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Primary medical qualification with complete GMC registration and licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery via CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights (or within 6 months of completion)
  • Demonstrable experience and clinical competence across the full range of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
