An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Oncologist to join a progressive Oncology service in the East of England. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued delivery of high-quality oncological care while supporting service development, multidisciplinary collaboration, research activity, and innovation across cancer pathways. Available specialist interests include: Medical Oncology – Breast & HPB; Clinical Oncology – Breast & Colorectal; Clinical Oncology – Lung & Upper GI. The appointee for the Lung & Upper GI role will: Lead Upper GI cancer oncology services; Share responsibility for Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma services; Support the expansion of immunotherapy and systemic anti-cancer treatments; Enhance multidisciplinary cancer management pathways; Increase recruitment into clinical trials and research programmes.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver Consultant-led oncology services across tumour-specific pathways
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs)
Manage systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy
Support Acute Oncology services and inpatient oncology care
Contribute to radiotherapy planning and review clinics (where applicable)
Provide leadership in oncology service delivery and pathway development
Participate in evidence-based treatment planning and service redesign
Participate in active oncology clinical trials
Become a local site investigator
Collaborate with regional cancer research networks
Contribute to translational oncology research
Participate in quality improvement and innovation projects
Engage in academic collaborations and oncology teaching programmes
Teaching junior doctors and medical students
Educational and clinical supervision responsibilities
Participation in governance and audit
Development of clinical protocols and guidelines
Leadership in service improvement programmes
Active participation in CPD and appraisal processes
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MRCP Part 1 and Part 2
FRCR
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR
Clinical training equivalent to UK CCT in Clinical Oncology
Wide experience in Chemotherapy prescribing, E-prescribing systems, Acute Oncology
