An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Consultant in Medical Oncology to join a leading NHS service in the East Midlands. Job Responsibility:
Provide expert clinical care across designated oncology tumour sites, ensuring safe, evidence-based treatment and management of all patients
Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, maintaining the highest standards of national cancer care and peer review compliance
Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues, nursing teams, and allied health professionals to deliver integrated oncology services
Take shared responsibility for the effective clinical and operational performance of the oncology department
Actively contribute to departmental and trust-wide clinical governance, quality assurance, and service improvement initiatives
Engage in clinical research and trials, supporting innovation and continuous improvement in oncology practice
Participate in teaching and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare staff
Undertake continuing professional development (CPD), annual appraisal, and revalidation activities
Contribute to management discussions, policy development, and long-term service planning
Maintain compliance with all professional, departmental, and NHS policies and procedures
Requirements:
Complete GMC Registration with a licence to practise
MRCP (UK) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification
Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR(CP) at interview)
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Proven competence in the management of solid tumour oncology
Strong commitment to multidisciplinary working, quality improvement, and clinical leadership
Excellent communication, organisation, and team collaboration skills
Nice to have:
Active participation in clinical research and national trials
Previous involvement in teaching, audit, and service redesign
Interest in developing subspecialty expertise within the department
Experience in contributing to CESR mentorship or oncology trainee supervision
