Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our dynamic and compassionate team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead and deliver high-quality care for children and adolescents within a multidisciplinary setting. There are excellent opportunities for teaching, research and audit, and leadership and development within the specialty can also be facilitated.

Job Responsibility:

  • Be the Team Leader of the Lodge, supported by the Lead Nurse, ward managers, and in collaboration with Heads of Departments
  • Offer expert opinion and clinical leadership, providing senior medical advice in the management of patients within the service
  • Oversee referrals into the team, through consultation with the assessing clinician or during weekly meetings
  • Ensure all patients under your care receive high-quality psychiatric assessments, treatment, and care plans
  • Provide ongoing support to team members, promoting an environment of clinical excellence and continuous professional development

Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Relevant specialist qualification or equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent or within 6 months of gaining CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or Learning Disability
  • Section 12(2) Approval
  • Appropriate training and experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Experience in learning disability
  • Basic experience in management eg trainee rotas
  • Clear involvement in audit/service improvement
  • Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff
  • Ability to work as a team with professional colleagues from medical and other disciplines

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of NHS management responsibilities of consultants
  • Shown evidence of interest in relevant specialist research
  • Ability to teach, teaching qualifications
