Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Histopathology, or eligibility within six months of interview
CCT (or within six months of completion) or equivalent overseas specialist qualification
FRCPath or equivalent qualification
Comprehensive training in Histopathology equivalent to UK specialist training
Ability to work independently within a consultant-led histopathology service
Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical teams

Job Responsibility

Report a broad range of surgical histopathology specimens
Develop and maintain expertise in two or more pathology subspecialties

Support clinical governance, quality assurance and audit programmes
Contribute to service improvement and departmental development

Full and specialist GMC registration with a licence to practise, or eligibility within six months of interview

Job Responsibility

Provide a comprehensive Cellular Pathology / Histopathology service to clinical colleagues, GPs, dentists and other medical staff across the service
Undertake diagnostic surgical pathology and cytology as part of the consultant histopathology team
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for the diagnosis and therapeutic assessment of cancer patients
Contribute to the weekly on-call rota (currently 1 in 12) with prospective cover
Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues and the wider multi-professional team to deliver safe, effective and efficient pathology services
Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, risk management and service development activities
Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and educational activity across the department
Contribute to research and academic development where appropriate, including specialist interests aligned with departmental and regional needs
Maintain appraisal, revalidation and continuing professional development requirements in line with GMC and Royal College standards
Take part in Health Board statutory and mandatory training and contribute to departmental planning and modernisation
