An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist to join a modern and forward-thinking Haematology service in Scotland. This permanent Consultant post offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering both malignant and non-malignant haematology services, with strong links to regional tertiary centres. The department provides a varied clinical workload, modern laboratory facilities, and excellent opportunities to develop specialist interests, conduct research, and pursue medical education.
Job Responsibility
Provide Consultant-led care for patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders
Manage inpatient and outpatient haematology services
Deliver clinical leadership within the Haematology Laboratory and Blood Transfusion service
Provide specialist clinical advice to primary and secondary care colleagues
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and regional cancer networks
Contribute to chemotherapy services and outpatient clinics
Share responsibility for laboratory management, quality improvement and clinical governance
Participate in the Consultant on-call rota
Supervise junior doctors, speciality doctors and medical students
Participate in audit, teaching, appraisal and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Requirements
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
CCT (or equivalent) in Haematology, or within six months of completion
FRCPath (or equivalent)
Broad experience across malignant and non-malignant haematology
Experience in Blood Transfusion
Ability to independently manage laboratory and clinical haematology services
Competence in bone marrow aspiration and biopsy
Strong morphology reporting skills
Commitment to multidisciplinary working
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Commitment to clinical governance, audit and patient safety
