On the GMC Specialist Register as a Clinical Haematologist, eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview and exit exam passed, or equivalent specialist registration route/evidence of equivalence for non-UK trained applicants
Evidence of effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and with all levels of staff
Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve services
Evidence of teaching and training of postgraduate/undergraduate clinical staff
Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing the audit
Experience in research in Haematology
Clinical skills in the management of Myeloid disease

Job Responsibility

Provide a consultant-led clinical service in Haematology, including the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of haematological illness
Deliver sub-speciality Myeloid care alongside general haematology outpatient and inpatient work
Participate in specific sub-speciality clinics as well as broader haematology service delivery
Share responsibility for inpatient attending cover, outpatient reviews and acute haematology input
Take part in the 1:7 consultant on-call rota, with prospective cover
Provide senior consultant oversight for acute haematology admissions, inpatient haematology management, liaison haematology queries, abnormal laboratory results requiring urgent management, urgent issues arising within the haematology day unit
Work closely with consultant colleagues, nursing teams, laboratory teams, pharmacy and wider MDT colleagues to provide safe, effective and high-quality care
Contribute to the safe, efficient and effective running of the haematology service in line with operational policies and service plans
Participate in risk management, clinical governance and information governance
Support service improvement and modernisation, including identifying opportunities to improve pathways and performance

MBBS or equivalent Primary Medical Qualification
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
Entry on GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of CCT/CCST
FRCPath or equivalent recognised qualification
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Broad experience across Clinical Haematology
Experience in malignant and non-malignant haematology
Experience in Blood Transfusion services
Ability to independently manage inpatient and outpatient haematology cases
Experience in clinical governance and audit

Job Responsibility

Deliver Consultant-led care for patients with a wide range of haematological disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings
Manage patients with haematological conditions, including malignant and non-malignant, such as haemato-oncology cases
Provide clinical leadership within the Haematology Laboratory and Blood Transfusion service
Participate in chemotherapy, new patient, and follow-up clinics
Undertake ward rounds and ongoing management of haematology inpatients
Provide expert clinical advice to primary care, secondary care and multidisciplinary teams
Participate in weekly MDT meetings, radiology discussions and regional cancer network meetings
Support blood bank governance, transfusion protocols and transfusion committee activities
Contribute to service development, innovation and quality improvement projects
Participate in audit, governance, appraisal and patient safety programmes

Job Responsibility

Provide comprehensive consultant-led haematology care for inpatients and outpatients
Manage new referrals and follow-up haematology patients
Oversee patients attending chemotherapy/day treatment services
Conduct weekly Specialist clinics supported by CNS teams
Deliver regular telephone follow-up clinics
Participate in coagulation and thrombosis clinics on a rota basis
Perform daily ward rounds and weekend on-call ward reviews when rostered
Offer specialist advice regarding blood films, bone marrow results, blood product use, bleeding disorders, clotting disorders, laboratory interpretation
Participate in GIRFT, cost improvement, and evidence-based redesign programmes
Support audit, governance, and quality improvement projects
