Job Description:

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Consultant in General Medicine to join a dedicated team on the East Coast of New Zealand. This role offers the perfect balance of professional fulfilment and lifestyle, set within one of the country’s most stunning coastal regions. In this position, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population. The department operates with three acute medical teams, managing an unselected medical take and offering exposure to a wide range of presentations and pathology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Admissions, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary management
  • Work closely with specialists in Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, and the ICU
  • Contribute to service development
  • Participate in educational and teaching activities
  • Play an active role in supporting junior medical staff

Requirements:

  • Vocational registration in General Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ), or eligibility for Provisional Vocational Registration
  • Completion of approved postgraduate training in General Medicine
  • Proven competence across a range of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Commitment to culturally safe practice and improving health outcomes for all communities
