Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated specialist to join our exceptional Endoscopy team. This is your chance to work in a centre of excellence where you’ll deliver diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services, including upper and lower GI endoscopy, in a state-of-the-art, patient-focused environment. You’ll lead and shape best practice in our Endoscopy department, working with a dynamic multi-professional team to support NHS, self-pay, and private patients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Delivering diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures to referred NHS and private patients
  • Delivering upper- and lower-day case gastroenterology services, principally carried out under local anaesthesia or without sedation
  • Performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy
  • Acting as the Lead Consultant for Endoscopy on site—mentoring peers, overseeing best practice, and enhancing service delivery
  • Contributing to audits, data reporting for JAG accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Managing patient outcomes including pathology results and referrals to local MDTs where needed
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team including consultants, endoscopy nurses, and management colleagues to maintain and improve clinical standards
  • Engaging in regular clinical governance activities, including incident reviews, SPA time, and departmental meetings
  • Supporting and, where required, delivering training for endoscopists in line with JAG standards

Requirements:

  • JAG-accredited for independent practice in upper and/or lower GI endoscopy
  • Demonstrable competence aligned to GRS and JAG KPIs (e.g., colonoscopy completion rate >90%)
  • GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Substantial experience in treating gastrointestinal conditions in a specialist setting
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to patient care and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and influence others
  • Commitment to CPD, clinical governance, and contributing to strategic improvement of services
