We are inviting applications for a Consultant Dermatologist to join a dynamic and expanding Dermatology team within the Yorkshire and Humber region. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established service delivering comprehensive dermatological care across multiple hospital sites. The department offers a full range of general dermatology services, supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including consultant colleagues, specialist nurses, physician associates, and trainees. The service is equipped with three dedicated dermatological theatres and provides facilities for phototherapy, PDT, and patch testing, with access to day case theatres for complex surgical procedures. The department is also active in clinical research, with several ongoing industry-sponsored and in-house studies, supported by experienced research nurses. Successful applicants will be encouraged to develop a special interest that complements the department’s existing services.
Job Responsibility:
Provide a high-quality, evidence-based dermatology service to patients across the region
Undertake outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and dermatological surgery as per the agreed job plan
Participate in the daytime on-call rota, supported by speciality trainees
Deliver teaching and supervision for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees, with opportunities for extended involvement in medical education through partnerships with Hull York Medical School (HYMS)
Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, collaborating with specialities such as Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Rheumatology
Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of care
Support and participate in departmental research and service development projects
Requirements:
Complete GMC registration with a valid licence to practise
MRCP (or equivalent), higher medical qualification
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Dermatology or within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR at the time of interview
Demonstrable experience and skill in managing general dermatology cases
Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees
Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high standards of clinical care
Nice to have:
Previous NHS experience in Dermatology
Evidence of participation in clinical research or publications
Experience of supervising trainees or SpRs
Background in setting up or contributing to a clinical decision unit or similar service
