An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and experienced Consultant Dermatologist to join a busy, progressive Dermatology department in the East Midlands. The service is seeking a motivated clinician who is passionate about delivering high-quality dermatological care while contributing to service development, education, and clinical governance. This is a Locum Consultant post, offering exposure to a wide-ranging Dermatology caseload, with opportunities to participate in teaching, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will work as part of an established team that prides itself on compassionate care, openness, and clinical excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain the highest clinical standards in the delivery of Dermatology services
Provide consultant-level care to patients, ensuring safe, timely diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
Share responsibility with Consultant colleagues for the day-to-day management of the Dermatology department
Manage your own clinics and skin surgery lists, with appropriate delegation and supervision of junior staff
Provide clinical cover for Consultant colleagues during periods of planned leave, with appropriate notice
Undertake responsibilities reflecting your areas of special interest, where applicable
Contribute actively to the teaching and clinical supervision of junior doctors, physician associates, nursing staff, and medical students
Participate in NIHR Portfolio studies and support ongoing research activity within the department
Engage in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education (CME) activities locally and nationally
Participate fully in departmental and organisational clinical governance structures
Take part in regular clinical audits to ensure continuous improvement and service effectiveness
Maintain compliance with Infection Control policies and professional GMC guidance (including Good Medical Practice)
Ensure active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and maintain an up-to-date CPD portfolio
Act in accordance with professional guidelines, including responsibilities relating to safe patient care, communication, documentation, and team leadership
Participate in service planning, quality improvement work, and broader Trust-level governance initiatives
On rare occasions, the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties within the wider geographical area in the event of a significant incident or service escalation
Requirements:
MBBS/MBChB or equivalent
MRCP (UK) or equivalent
Complete GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Demonstrable experience working in Dermatology departments within the UK
Comprehensive skills in General Dermatology, skin cancer management, and skin surgery
