A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Northumberland CYPS covering the Learning Disability and PBS pathway as well as our Neurodevelopmental Pathway. The postholder will join a great team of doctors and other professionals passionate about the care of children and young people in Northumberland. They will work as part of an effective multidisciplinary team and supporting young people with intellectual disability from around the area both in the clinic and school setting
Job Responsibility:
Leading the multidisciplinary Team in clinical decisions and service development
Overseeing treatment of children with learning disability as well as forming part of a neurodevelopmental pathway
Offering diagnostic and treatment decisions in complex cases
Offering supervision to junior colleagues
Furthering their own professional development
Leading on audit processes
Being part of an on call rota
Regular planned out-patient clinics, school clinics, or within specialist residential placements
Complex case discussions where patients vulnerable to or in crisis are discussed
Attendance to Multidisciplinary Team meetings
Support to and supervision of trainees, specialty doctors and NMPs
Liaison with Consultants from inpatient wards and other mental health teams
Administration to support these clinical activities
On call duties and emergency work
Audit
Appraisal
Revalidation
CPD
Service management and development
Teaching
Educational supervision
Requirements:
MBBS (or equivalent)
Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Approved Clinician Status
Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
Experience of Clinical Audit
High level of clinical skills
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teaching skills
Demonstrate the ability to work in a time efficient manner
Able to sustain self and support others
Trustworthiness
Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
Maturity, openness and flexibility
Nice to have:
MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
Has undergone training in educational supervision
Has undergone training in appraisal
An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience in multiagency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
Experience in service management or development
Established record of clinical leadership
Established ability as a clinical teacher
Training in specific and relevant treatment skills eg a brief form of psychological therapy
