An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Anaesthetist with a subspecialty interest in Critical Care to join a well-established Anaesthetics and Intensive Care team in the East of England. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality Anaesthesia and Critical Care services across elective and emergency pathways while supporting ongoing service development and innovation within the department.
Job Responsibility:
Provide Consultant-led Anaesthetic services for elective and emergency surgery
Deliver Consultant-level Critical Care services collaboratively within the ITU team
Participate in the ITU on-call rota (currently 1:8)
Maintain high standards of safe patient care in accordance with GMC guidance
Support the delivery of efficient and effective perioperative and critical care services
Work flexibly across theatres, critical care, and emergency pathways
Teach and supervise junior doctors and trainees
Support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
Participate in simulation, departmental teaching, and clinical supervision
Contribute to research and innovation activities
Engage in audit, appraisal, governance, and CPD programmes
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
FRCA or recognised equivalent
FFICM or equivalent
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Entry on GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia or within 6 months of CCT at interview date
Clinical training equivalent to UK CCT in Anaesthetics
Wide experience in Anaesthesia
Wide experience in Critical Care Medicine
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Strong multidisciplinary teamwork skills
Excellent communication and clinical leadership abilities
