This role can be based on a hybrid working model from any one of our Egis offices in London, Manchester, Bristol. Potential for other locations to be considered based on business requirements and the Egis office location. We are seeking a Consultant – EIA & Consents to join our expanding Environment team. In this role, you will contribute to environmental assessments and consents for major infrastructure projects across the T&D, energy, water and transportation sectors. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting planning submissions, regulatory engagement, and delivering high-quality environmental reporting aligned with complex stakeholder and sector expectations.
Job Responsibility:
Contribute to EIAs including screening, scoping and ES chapter drafting across T&D, energy, water and transportation projects
Undertake environmental baseline research, constraints analysis and impact assessments
Coordinate specialist inputs (air quality, noise, biodiversity, landscape, water environment, climate) and ensure alignment
Support preparation of DCO, TCPA or sector-specific planning submissions for linear and major infrastructure schemes
Assist in development of mitigation strategies and environmental risk registers
Engage with stakeholders including local planning authorities, regulators and community representatives
Contribute to consultation materials, technical workshops and project reporting
Maintain project documentation, QA processes, schedules, risk logs and deliverables
Support bid writing, fee proposals and the development of project scopes
Actively participate in team knowledge sharing and capability building
Requirements:
Degree in environmental science, planning, engineering or related discipline
Experience supporting EIAs or environmental planning projects within consultancy or regulated industries
Working knowledge of planning policy and environmental legislation
Progress toward professional membership with IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM or RTPI is encouraged
Understanding of EIA Regulations, environmental legislation and planning frameworks
Ability to analyse data and contribute to robust technical assessments
Strong communication and writing skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Organisation and time management to support delivery across multiple projects
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and contribute proactively
Interest or experience in T&D, energy, water or transportation sector environmental issues
