The Construction Technical Project Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing multiple aspects of utility scale renewable energy generation projects as assigned by their supervisor. The Technical Project Engineer works under the direction of a Construction Project Manager to ensure the fulfillment of project requirements in terms of schedule, cost, safety, and quality as well as proactively tracks and communicates key projects risks to stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Support the completion of preliminary engineering specifications of construction and supply contracts for assigned projects
Contribute to the development of detailed project management and construction strategy including implementation plans, budgets, and schedules
Participate in the review and approval of vendors and suppliers
Coordinate with Project Controls staff regarding the scheduling and budgeting of the project
Support Finance teams with due diligence and project economic models
Assist with project variance analysis reporting to senior management for key risks, project costs, and schedules
Assist with integration of development and execution functions for assigned projects
Maintain current knowledge of the overall project by assisting with the resolution of differences and reviewing plans and procedures to institute changes as needed
Maintain detailed knowledge and familiarity with contracts and documents in order to ensure that work is executed in accordance with the expectations that have been defined and approved and that the work fulfills contractual requirements
Develop and maintain tools (ProCore, SQL, Visio, Power BI, SharePoint, Appian, CPR, bots, etc.) for accurate real time tracking and reporting of project execution progress and status
Assist with real time problem solving and field engineering of solutions to design and constructability issues identified during project execution
Develop effective relationships with contractors and suppliers
Develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues paying special attention to field team members
Support the needs of site construction teams
Promote safety at all job sites and set an exemplary example when visiting sites
Identify, prepare and support continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
Master’s degree preferred
1 – 3 years in energy project management, an environmental or engineering field, or a directly related field
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Office Project
Knowledge of construction management and constructing methods for large projects, contract management, procurement, supply chain management, environmental and building permitting, and transportation logistics
Basic knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes including Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA), National Electrical Code (NEC), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
Basic knowledge of land surveying methods and practices, aerial photography and mapping (including UTM and NAD coordinate systems), and geospatial references
Ability to interpret documents produced in AutoCAD, GIS and other discipline-relevant software
Familiarity reading and interpreting engineering designs, specifications, and plan sets
Understanding of basic financial principles (IRR, NPV, Depreciation, etc.)
Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind, solar energy, and battery storage including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering
Strong interpersonal skills and high attention to details
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks in a relatively unstructured environment with little supervision
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
Ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally, by plane, by car, and with short notice
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites
Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
