Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking a Superintendent to oversee field construction activities for multiple highway lighting and signalization projects. This role is responsible for directing daily operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Job Responsibility:
Direct and manage day-to-day field activities for highway lighting crews
Plan and supervise construction methods, sequencing, staffing levels, equipment, materials, and work schedules
Coordinate with internal departments, subcontractors, inspectors, and other trades to support project schedules
Create and distribute daily reports and three-week look-ahead schedules
Communicate staffing and equipment needs to Field Operations leadership
Prepare for and attend project status and coordination meetings
Ensure jobsite security at all times
Track and verify work progress against budget and schedule
Provide input to cost and schedule forecasts
Identify changed conditions, delays, or scope impacts and communicate promptly
Participate in change order and claim negotiations
Support project closeout and timely completion of punch list items
Monitor crew and subcontractor compliance with safety requirements
Conduct weekly safety inspections and ensure toolbox talks are completed
Assist with incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and regulatory standards
Ensure quality workmanship is maintained on all projects
Verify materials, products, and installation methods meet or exceed project specifications
Train, mentor, and support project staff
Conduct effective weekly meetings with crews, subcontractors, and owners as needed
Promote company values, expectations, and performance standards
Identify improved construction methods and document best practices
Ensure minority and female participation goals (DBE, EEO, etc.) are met or exceeded
Hold crews and subcontractors accountable to participation requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required
Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in similar construction environments
Experience with highway lighting, signalization, or related civil infrastructure projects
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and crew supervision
Proven leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and HCSS
