The Construction & Renovation (C&R) Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and successful delivery of construction, renovation, infrastructure, and facility improvement projects across healthcare, academic, research, and administrative environments. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Responsibility
Lead construction and renovation projects from concept development through design, construction, occupancy, and project closeout
Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource requirements
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
Manage project activities to ensure timely completion and adherence to approved budgets and quality standards
Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
Serve as primary liaison between project sponsors, business owners, facility leadership, consultants, contractors, and vendors
Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, construction updates, and executive status meetings
Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand operational needs and ensure project objectives are met
Communicate project progress, risks, issues, and decisions to leadership and project teams
Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers, and external consultants
Review design documents, construction drawings, specifications, and project estimates
Support procurement activities, contract reviews, bid evaluations, and contractor selection processes
Oversee construction activities, site logistics, project inspections, and commissioning efforts
Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking mechanisms
Monitor expenditures and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities
Evaluate and manage project change orders, contract modifications, and contingency utilization
Prepare financial updates and budget reports for leadership review
Identify project risks and develop mitigation and contingency plans
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, Joint Commission requirements, ADA standards, environmental regulations, and organizational policies
Conduct project audits, site inspections, and quality assurance reviews
Escalate significant risks, delays, and issues to leadership
Coordinate project activities to minimize disruptions to operations
Develop transition and occupancy plans for renovated or new spaces
Coordinate move management, equipment installation, activation activities, and post-occupancy support
Ensure operational teams are prepared for facility turnover
Maintain project documentation
Prepare executive-level presentations and project status updates
Track project metrics, milestones, issues, risks, and action items
Support governance processes and project portfolio reporting requirements
Requirements
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience within healthcare, higher education, or research environments
Knowledge of healthcare facility regulations, infection control requirements, and operational readiness planning
Experience managing projects involving clinical spaces, laboratories, patient care environments, or major infrastructure improvements
