Job Description

Seeking a Project Manager experienced in pre engineered metal buildings to join our client's team in this great direct placement opportunity. Our client is a small contractor/subcontractor specializing in pre-engineered metal buildings. With extensive experience in hundreds of projects across Chicagoland and the surrounding areas, they focus on providing quality solutions in the metal building sector. We are seeking a dedicated candidate to join our client's team as a direct placement and contribute to their ongoing success.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare project proposals based on provided drawings and specifications
  • Manage project submittals, onsite project management, and coordination with other trades
  • Conduct site meetings and develop project schedules
  • Oversee procurement and delivery of materials to job sites as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and attention to detail in all task execution

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in pre-engineered metal buildings, either with a manufacturer or a contractor
  • Strong construction management knowledge and general construction knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and One Drive
  • familiarity with Blue Beam, Microsoft Teams, and Sketch-Up is a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills with a strong problem-solving ability
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs in a job site environment and manage short on-site responsibilities when needed

  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for equipment and material, maintain unit cost databases, and track historical estimating data
  • Produce detailed cost estimates and bid packages—including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, allowances, contingency, and mark-up
  • Attend job walks / pre-bid meetings and site surveys to capture job-specific conditions, constraints, and build-ability issues
  • Collaborate with project management, design team, and operations to verify constructability, schedule impacts, change order potential, and ensure budget alignment
  • Maintain and update estimating logs, project cost history, and data for continuous improvement of estimate accuracy
  • Provide value-engineering suggestions when appropriate: alternative materials, system layouts, labor efficiencies
  • Support change order estimating and budget monitoring post-award when required
