Job Description:

Position Purpose: The Construction Project Engineer is responsible for oversight of Veolia construction projects. This position will be dedicated to supporting large construction activities in the US and Canada. This individual will provide direct daily support to a large construction project in Tampa, Florida, in the near term and additional projects as business needs change over time. Primary objectives of the role include: Provide construction project team with field engineering support for construction activities. Assists in the coordination of both design and construction activities at the site. Works with existing operation teams and on site contractors to ensure that work is properly coordinated and done safely. Works to create a collaborative work environment. Manages document control library of all pertinent construction documentation, drawing updates.

  • Preparing estimates for labor costs, materials costs, and equipment costs to determine project budgets
  • Ensuring that safety procedures are followed during construction to prevent injuries or damage to property
  • Meeting with clients to discuss project details and requirements, such as materials needed or design specifications
  • Drafting detailed construction plans, including diagrams of mechanical systems and layouts of machinery rooms or buildings
  • Reviewing blueprints and design drawings to ensure conformance to industry standards
  • Coordinating with architects and contractors to ensure that designs meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • Providing technical support to construction crews during the building phase of projects
  • Identifying potential risks and developing plans to mitigate them
  • Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates
  • Maintain records of and manages/approves contractor change requests and works to resolve issues with mechanical design
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations

  • Develop proficient use of Masterworks, Procore, and Autodesk Construction Cloud software

  • Managing relations with stakeholders, clients, contractors, engineers, and consultants
  • Project documentation and implementation of project controls
  • Construction inspections, including conducting inspections of work in place against drawings and specifications
  • Submittal, RFI, and Change Order management, including review, analysis, and negotiation support
  • Daily Reports, Quality Reports, Deficiency Logs, and Non-Compliance Tracking
  • Contribution to preparation of project budgets
  • Project Management support of design and construct projects as assigned

  • Startup, testing, and commissioning coordination

  • Maintaining organized project files and document control systems
  • Completing and maintaining inspection and test records
  • Monitoring material and equipment deliveries and checking compliance with submittals

  • Attending coordination meetings with subcontractors and reviewing subcontractor work plans and method statements
  • Assisting with measurement and documentation of quantities
  • Documenting site conditions and events for potential claims support
  • Coordinating collection of as-built drawings and O&M manuals
  • Supporting commissioning and handover activities
  • Ensuring all documentation is complete and properly filed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Two or four year college degree in an engineering discipline or construction management
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 is required
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus

  • Ability to travel throughout the United States
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record
