Job Description:

The Project Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial management of construction projects from initiation through completion. This position partners closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate project costing, timely billing, and effective financial reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitor and manage financial performance of assigned construction projects
  • Track project costs, commitments, and budgets to ensure financial accuracy
  • Prepare and process client billings, including progress billings and change orders
  • Maintain detailed project cost reports and job cost tracking
  • Assist project managers with budget forecasting and financial analysis
  • Review subcontractor invoices and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting
  • Reconcile project accounts and investigate discrepancies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field highly preferred
  • 2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries
  • Strong understanding of job costing, revenue recognition, and construction accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, comfortable in MS Excel
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
