We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Construction / Technical Production Manager to support the Regional Production Director and the Australian Production team to coordinate the planning, execution and delivery of construction and technical production projects. This role requires deep knowledge of the permitting process, working with Surveyors, Architects and builders/trades, construction methods, rigging, technical systems, vendor coordination, and on-site project management. Ideal for someone with experience in live events, permanent installations, or commercial building projects, the role demands a blend of engineering acumen and logistical coordination. The role would be focused on the build costing and setup, and the projects will be handed over to the producers once building permit is obtained or when the project is in an advanced enough state to be handed over.
Job Responsibility:
Support the regional team in planning, coordinating, and managing the execution phase of construction, installation and/or technical production projects
Contribute to process improvement for venue validation per IP, build tender creation and construction project management
Schedule and Lead local technical and construction crews through all stages of project execution
Maintain the timeline to ensure the attraction opens by the specified, and agreed upon date based on market
Maintain detailed project documentation, review and negotiate contracts, sort invoices, and assign them to cost tracking
Report developments on site up to global and regional teams
Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement
Must be able to interpret CAD plans, technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
Supervise and inspect installation of all construction and technical systems
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and technical specifications
Troubleshoot issues that arise during installation and event execution
Research, vet, and onboard vendors and suppliers
Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, invoicing, and payment processing
Coordinate with the Regional Production Director, the procurement and delivery of all necessary materials and equipment
Liaise with architects, engineers, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers
Coordinate permitting, inspections, and other regulatory requirements
Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders
Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and approve construction related invoices
Schedule workforce and resources effectively to meet deadlines
Identify and resolve delays or cost overruns proactively
Meticulously track project timelines against permitting deliverables, construction and technical install
Engage with Building Surveyor / certifier to organise venue assessment, construction checklist
Identifies and engages relevant consultants to get all certifications
Organises building permit, occupancy permit, and payment of Government levy
Serve as the primary point of contact on-site during construction/production
Conduct site assessments, safety meetings, and walkthroughs
Resolve conflicts and troubleshoot technical or logistical issues in real-time
Oversee all on-site activity during install and construction phases
Enforce safety standards, schedule compliance, and quality control
Manage logistics related to space constraints, deliveries, power, climate, and site readiness
Requirements:
5+ years of experience managing construction or technical production projects
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, rigging, electrical and mechanical systems, and production technology
Must be able to read and interpret architectural and technical documentation
Strong working knowledge of safety standards, BCA requirements, and building/fire codes for public indoor spaces in Australia
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
Nice to have:
Experience in permanent builds / fitouts, live event production, theatrical installations, or entertainment venues
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Sketchup or other design software
First Aid certification
Forklift / Scissorlift licence
