Vulcain Engineering Ltd, our UK business, is well positioned within the UK Nuclear industry. We provide the flexibility our clients demand by working at our customers’ sites in the UK and Europe as well as carrying out work remotely on their behalf. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key projects. Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering-procurement-construction-commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle. With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services. Construction Planner (Civils) - Nuclear: Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Construction Planner (Civils) to join our PMO division, who are providing the client-side professional services for pioneer nuclear new build projects such as HPC & SZC. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring close collaboration with construction, planning, and logistics teams. It’s an opportunity for you to be an integral part of some of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects in decades – contributing to the UK’s future low-carbon ambitions. The Construction Planner will work in a high-performance culture alongside industry leaders, whilst gaining exposure to innovative tools like 4D/5D planning.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain detailed construction schedules in Primavera 6 (P6)
  • Ensure the schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team
  • Collaborate with site teams and contractors, contributing to 16-week lookaheads, 4D planning, and schedule performance tracking
  • Create fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques
  • Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis of schedule impact, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with processes and ensure that they align to the forecast position
  • Co-ordinate and produce schedule reports to a defined reporting cycle

Requirements

  • Demonstratable experience in engineering or construction planning - in particular on largescale and complex civil packages, during the construction phases
  • Industry exposure across Nuclear or another highly regulated heavy industry, such as
  • Oil and Gas, Downstream, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical
  • Knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project environments and integrated planning - preferably throughout the full project lifecycle (inception, pre-FEED, FEED, construction, commissioning)
  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 schedule development and progress monitoring
  • Understanding of site safety culture, and ideally nuclear/conventional safety principles
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate costs/data in a well-structured manner
  • Confident managing a multitude of stakeholders, including senior leadership, both internally and externally, as well as the ability to challenge and consult when required
  • You will have indefinite and independent right to work in the UK, due to the high level of security clearance required on several of our UK Nuclear sites
