Job Description

Klingner & Associates, P.C. is seeking a Construction Observation & Construction Materials Testing Technician / Inspector to work in our Construction Phase Services Department. We’re looking for a dedicated individual that enjoys a “hands-on” career in the construction industry. This job is ideal for a candidate that enjoys a fast-paced work environment at construction sites throughout Southeast Iowa and West Central Illinois. Work days will be split between working outside in the field, and performing laboratory tests in the office. This position is for technical staff focusing on construction observation, materials testing, and equipment maintenance. It does not require an engineering degree or a path to PE licensure. This position is full-time. Seasonal overtime pay is likely and should be anticipated during the busy construction seasons throughout the year.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform construction observation in the field for designated projects as assigned
  • Conduct testing of construction materials (i.e., concrete, soil, aggregate) at construction sites and in the laboratory
  • Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, upkeep, calibrations, and safe working condition of equipment
  • Demonstrate excellent documentation skills while testing
  • Utilize basic math and critical thinking skills to analyze and resolve problems
  • Maintain flexibility for task-oriented requirements, including seasonal overtime and weekends during busy construction seasons

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or at least 2+ years of construction experience preferred
