We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and deliver civil infrastructure and road construction projects in Prince Rupert, one of British Columbia’s most scenic and strategically important coastal regions. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a well-established civil construction organization delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across Western Canada.
Job Responsibility:
Lead full project lifecycle from planning through execution and completion
Oversee crews, superintendents, subcontractors, and project teams
Ensure compliance with design specifications, schedules, budgets, and safety standards
Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders on progress and project changes
Travel to project sites regularly to support field operations and resolve issues
Troubleshoot challenges including weather, scheduling conflicts, and resource constraints
Develop and manage project budgets and timelines
Monitor project costs and financial performance against targets
Optimize use of labour, materials, and equipment
Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and expenses
Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
Ensure adherence to quality standards, specifications, and engineering requirements
Conduct audits and support continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with QA/QC teams to maintain high performance standards
Lead hiring, training, and development of project teams
Manage employee relations and support a positive work environment
Delegate responsibilities and drive accountability across teams
Champion a strong safety culture across all projects
Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and company safety programs
Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
Requirements:
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
CET or P.Eng designation (preferred)
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
5–7+ years in road or civil or infrastructure construction
Minimum 2 years in a leadership or management role
Proven experience managing infrastructure or road construction projects
Strong understanding of: Road construction and asphalt materials
Compaction theory and QA/testing practices
Project management and estimating
OH&S and environmental regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word, Outlook)
Candidates must be currently based in Canada
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
Willingness to travel to project sites as required (20 %)
Must be able to meet all safety requirements including pre-employment drug/alcohol testing
