Job Description

Service Stream’s Power division are currently seeking an experienced Construction Lead to join our growing company. You will be responsible for undertaking the planning, quoting and delivery of projects or parts of projects under contract for customers, ensuring that time, scope, costs, safety and quality objectives are met.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and manage assigned projects from initiation through to project closure
  • Responsible for project outcomes
  • Project scope definition and scope control
  • Project scheduling including on-time delivery
  • Project communication including reporting, project stakeholder management and management of project information systems
  • Management of project procurement activities including subcontract tendering and head/subcontract contract administration
  • Management of the design, procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, testing and commissioning processes to complete project deliverables
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the company’s project management systems and processes
  • Develop strong customer relationships at the project level
  • Manage the delivery of customer projects to ensure high levels of client satisfaction
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the project in cooperation with the Works/Operations/Project Manager
  • Ensure that the project activities achieve or better target completion dates
  • Manage accurate project scheduling to ensure that delivery plans are realistic and achievable
  • Review the status of project activities on a regular basis to ensure that activities are completed on time
  • develop contingency plans and implement corrective actions to deal with performance deviations

Requirements

  • Engineering or business related degree, trade qualification or substantial industry experience
  • Experience in the application of structured project management methodologies to a wide range of projects
  • Hold a current construction induction card
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Project Management experience in a contracting organisation or project based business or similar with a proven ability to operate in a dynamic 'live' environment and to meet project hurdles
  • Over 2 years’ experience in project management of projects within Distribution Underground conduit and cable industry
  • Contract management of customer and supply contracts up to $4M in value
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of the work undertaken by the team (procurement, design, construction, operation and maintenance)
  • Understanding of power distribution networks, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of work structures, conditions, tools and equipment used by team construction staff
  • Ability to manage and takes accountability for all project functions
  • Financial Management: ability to maintain budgets & drive cost accountability
  • HSEQ– risk assessment, legislative compliance
  • Core programming skills

  • Monitor daily field work and initiate action when necessary to ensure construction is performed according to design and contract specifications
  • Apply standard construction engineering techniques and sound judgment to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Assist the Program/Project Manager with reviewing change requests, drafting potential change notices, and providing justification for scope adjustments
  • Help coordinate Site Specific Safety Work Plans (SSSWP) with contractors and Amtrak personnel
