Construction Inspector role in the Transportation division, working on engineering solutions including roadways, bridges, airports, stormwater infrastructure, and parks/recreation projects primarily for state and local agencies and municipalities.
Job Responsibility:
Integral to construction projects
Projects may include surveying, marking up existing damages, monitoring contractor’s work activities, approving work zone traffic control, preparing work orders, providing IDOT documentation
Oversee multiple sites per day throughout IDOT Region 1 (McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties)
Examine workmanship of construction tasks before, during, and after completion for conformity to contract documents
Prepare daily summary reports of construction inspection activities
Interface with clients, consultants, subconsultants, and contractors
Build strong relationships and maintain focus on superior client service
Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate complete competence as an inspector
Experience organizing and maintaining daily reports and photo documentation
Safety expert
Pass 10-hour OSHA training
IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification preferred
Current driver’s license required
High school diploma required
At least two years of college preferred
Skill set ranges from entry level willing to grow to several years of construction experience
People person with ability to interface and collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues
Organization, leadership, and communication skills
Open minded, technically inclined, and reliable
Proficient with business applications
Microsoft Office 365 understanding is a must
Flexible schedule
Available to work from 7:00am-3:30pm, with possible overtime and occasional nights and weekends
