Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Accounting & Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role offers a unique blend of accounting responsibilities and compliance oversight, supporting both financial operations and project execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety in their work, and takes ownership of processes and systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including job costing, lien waivers, and AIA billing
  • Handle billing based on percentage of completion
  • Oversee aging reports, collections, and retainage through relationship-focused communication
  • Set up and maintain job files, contracts, certificates of insurance (COIs), vendor records, and bill pay
  • Provide support to project managers and estimators
  • Work across a mix of large-scale projects and smaller, short-term jobs
  • Track and manage employee certifications
  • Maintain compliance portals, including insurance and safety ratings
  • Organize and track credentials within Excel or internal databases
  • Take ownership of compliance processes, including building and improving tracking systems

Requirements:

  • Prior construction industry experience required
  • Strong understanding of AP/AR processes, job costing, and project-based accounting
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of compliance and create organized systems
  • Self-starter with strong communication and follow-up skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to support various functions as needed
  • Experience with Sage is a plus
