We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Accounting & Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role offers a unique blend of accounting responsibilities and compliance oversight, supporting both financial operations and project execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety in their work, and takes ownership of processes and systems.
Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including job costing, lien waivers, and AIA billing
Handle billing based on percentage of completion
Oversee aging reports, collections, and retainage through relationship-focused communication
Set up and maintain job files, contracts, certificates of insurance (COIs), vendor records, and bill pay
Provide support to project managers and estimators
Work across a mix of large-scale projects and smaller, short-term jobs
Track and manage employee certifications
Maintain compliance portals, including insurance and safety ratings
Organize and track credentials within Excel or internal databases
Take ownership of compliance processes, including building and improving tracking systems
Requirements:
Prior construction industry experience required
Strong understanding of AP/AR processes, job costing, and project-based accounting
Ability and willingness to take ownership of compliance and create organized systems
Self-starter with strong communication and follow-up skills
Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to support various functions as needed
Experience with Sage is a plus
