One of the territories top general contractors is looking for an experienced Construction Accountant to manage accounts for various construction projects through the creation of detailed budgets, job costing, work-in-progress schedules, auditing, completion of certified payroll and general ledger entry. The Construction Accountant should display excellent business acumen and the ability to minimize production costs through efficient accounting.
Job Responsibility:
Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the budget
Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes
Preparing cost analysis by interpreting projects’ financial data and information
Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
Managing the preparation of monthly invoice packages for all billable projects, including all applicable backup
Setting up new projects in Job Cost and the necessary spreadsheets daily
Creating and submitting government reports and tax returns related to the construction project
Processing payroll 100+ employees
Accounts Payable/Receivable
Requirements:
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in private or public accounting
Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures
Familiarity with accounting software
Solid analytical and mathematical skills
Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Nice to have:
A certification in construction accounting is preferred
