Job Description:

At Purcell‘s London Studio, we are looking for a talented and passionate Conservation Architect to join our team working on the conservation and creative reuse of iconic and historically significant buildings in the UK. Current projects in the team include the Royal Observatory Greenwich, The Royal Ballet and Opera, and the Bank of England. We are keen to talk to architects with excellent conservation and design skills as well as an enthusiasm for work of the utmost quality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Play a key role in driving and delivering conservation-focused design
  • Work on significant cultural and public sector projects with broad consultant teams
  • Working within our architectural team and collaborating closely with our heritage consultants
  • Deliver conservation projects across all RIBA stages and at a variety of scales in the cultural and public sectors
  • Condition surveys
  • Conservation design
  • Planning and listed building consent applications
  • Technical design
  • Construction supervision
  • Management of team members

Requirements:

  • ARB Part 3 qualified with a minimum 2 years’ experience working as an Architect for a UK based practice
  • Experience working on conservation projects across RIBA Stages 3-5
  • Ability to contribute to high quality conservation design
  • Ability to contribute to well-communicating reports and presentations
  • Ability to manage workload in relation to design and construction programmes
  • A good understanding of the UK Building and Planning regulations
  • Software proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Well organised, proactive and enthusiastic in approach to work and projects
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written

Nice to have:

  • Accredited Conservation Architect (RIBA CA/SCA and/or AABC) or an ambition to become accredited
  • Experience working on conservation projects across RIBA Stages 0-2 and 6-7
  • Project management and contract administration
  • Software proficiency in Revit and NBS
