The town of Boxford is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as its next Conservation Agent. Boxford is a rural Merrimack Valley community known for its extensive network of conservation lands and trails. The Conservation Agent serves as the professional staff member to the Conservation Commission and is responsible for administering and enforcing state and local wetlands regulations. The position plays a central role in protecting the Town’s environmental assets while supporting thoughtful and compliant development.
Job Responsibility:
Administer wetlands regulations and serve as Agent to the Conservation Commission
Review applications, conduct site inspections, and monitor compliance
Investigate violations and coordinate enforcement actions
Support conservation land management, stewardship, and acquisition initiatives
Coordinate with town departments and support environmental and resiliency projects
Develop and administer grants
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, natural resources, planning, or related field
Two to five years of relevant experience (municipal preferred)
Knowledge of Massachusetts wetlands regulations
Strong communication and project management skills
