Job Responsibility:
Administer the engineering design process and manage workflows to ensure all changes are documented, reviewed and approved
Facilitate the transfer of information from PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
Work closely with other stakeholders including other members of the quality department, production, engineering, management, and customers
Develop, maintain, and work towards automating configuration management tools
Generate design concepts for new and next generation products, including CAD, Material selection, defining processing parameters, tooling, and drafting to the department’s standards and procedures
Support other areas of product design engineering, as required
Technical support to the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams for proposed designs
Undertake problem solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues as they arise throughout the development and service life cycle
Support Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) efforts to ensure a sustainable support solution
Support Operations to ensure that components and assemblies can be manufactured effectively and efficiently
Recognise the need for engineering change and raise engineering change requests as appropriate
Requirements:
Degree or equivalent (i.e. diploma or experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
5+ years of product design experience in a relevant industry
Working knowledge of military vehicles and defence industry CM requirements
Experience working on design and development projects, inception to launch, within an engineer to order technical environment
Proficient with the use of 3D CAD modelling and design software
Proficient with the use of PLM software
Understanding of engineering drawings and design standards including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ideally to automotive / defence requirements
Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects
Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task under pressure of deadlines
Proficient user of MS office software
Familiar with configuration control and change management processes
Canadian citizen or valid work permit
Obtained or the ability to obtain Reliability security clearance
Experience of using AI tools or demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply AI in role
Nice to have:
Ability to recommend process and workflow improvements
Experienced in using PTC Creo
Experience using Windchill PLM
Expertise in the structural analysis of metallic components and welded assemblies
Knowledge of tooling design and design for manufacturability
Experience using FEA software
