The Configuration Analyst is responsible for implementing the Configuration Management Practices and systems within a project in accordance with the processes in the Business Management System (BMS) including any sector specific procedures and the project Configuration Management Plan (CMP). This includes: Configuration Management (CM) Planning; Product Identification & Control including the Product Breakdown Structure; Documentation Identification & Control; Configuration Baseline Management; Configuration Status Accounting and Reporting, and Configuration Audits. This role is part of the MD&E team, working on key projects supporting a wide range of Australian and regional maritime programs.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure data and documentation related to a product is captured in the Configuration Management System and that the approval status of the data and documentation is correct
Assist in identifying problems related to Data & Documentation Control procedures or systems and liaise with other groups / teams for resolution
Provide guidance on document formatting and application of project file naming conventions (including electronic file names)
Identify and investigate configuration management problems, whether processes, systems, tools or staff, and formulate strategies for their resolution
Communicate within the configuration management team to effectively raise issues to senior staff and relevant stakeholders
Prepare for and satisfy configuration management audit schedule, including Functional Configuration Audits (FCA), Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) and Quality audits of configuration management
Support Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and subordinate boards, including preparation of CM data, recording outcomes, and progressing approved actions
Ensure classified information and Export Controlled Material under Configuration Control is protected and handled in accordance with company and Defence Security / Export Control regulation requirements as applicable

Requirements:
Engineering degree or relevant technical diploma or certificate desirable, or related discipline or trade skill with suitable experience
Demonstrated configuration management (CM) experience in one or more engineering environments in a CM role, or and engineering/technical role involving significant CM involvement, including at least one defence project
Significant experience in the use of recognised CM tools and associated databases
Experience or potential to manage a CM related technical team, including interfacing with engineering/technical personnel (e.g. IT staff)
Must be able to gain and maintain a minimum BASELINE Security Clearance, or higher level as required for the role
Well-developed literacy in computer usage including highly developed skills in standard office software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and relevant expertise in use of large computer systems and databases desirable
Well-developed analytical skills
