Job Description

The Conference & Events Operations Supervisor supports the successful delivery of Live and Confex events, with a primary focus on internal meetings, catering, tastings, and events. The role ensures exceptional customer service, strong operational standards, and effective team supervision to deliver seamless food and beverage experiences while building positive client relationships.

Job Responsibility

  • Support daily operations including event setup, service delivery, and close-down procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Assist with stock control, deliveries, and inventory management
  • Deliver outstanding service and manage guest enquiries or issues
  • Maintain high presentation and service standards
  • Gather feedback to enhance the overall experience
  • Supervise and support bar and restaurant teams during events
  • Assist with onboarding and training
  • Foster a positive, collaborative working environment
  • Process payments and support cash handling procedures
  • Contribute to cost control and waste reduction
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory and safety standards
  • Monitor food and beverage quality and consistency
  • Host rooms confidently and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and suppliers

Requirements

  • Experience within a fast paced hospitality environment (events, restaurants, hotels, or bars)
  • Experience supervising teams
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Understanding of food safety and regulatory compliance
  • Basic financial awareness (cash handling, stock control)
  • Problem-solving ability and team-focused mindset
  • Flexible approach to working hours

Nice to have

  • Food safety knowledge

  • Supervise event setup and service in line with function sheets, ensuring all staff are fully briefed on event details, food and beverage offerings, and service standards
  • Liaise with conference organisers, kitchen teams, and internal departments to coordinate event requirements, including final numbers, menu changes, and service times
  • Support the Assistant Conference & Events Operations Manager with staff supervision, training, development, and fostering a positive, cohesive team environment
  • Monitor event quality, address guest feedback and operational issues, and ensure all equipment, function rooms, storage areas, and audio-visual spaces are clean, secure, and fully operational
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, fire, and operational standards, and carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by management
