Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and detail-oriented COMSEC MANAGER in support of the 40th Test Squadron located at EGLIN AFB, FL. The COMSEC Manager will have specialized expertise in supporting developmental weapon systems, including telemetry, secure voice telecommunications, data encryption, and Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) Functional Ground Test (FGT) operations. This critical role provides hands-on advice, assistance, and direct support for managing COMSEC assets, loading cryptographic keys for test missions, overseeing equipment calibration and inspections, and executing full FGT test events.
Job Responsibility:
Provide advice and assistance to the government-appointed COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) for the comprehensive management of the squadron's COMSEC program
Provide technical support to control COMSEC material
load and unload COMSEC keys for all squadron assets before and after test missions
and support both local and off-station tests as required
As the primary technical expert supporting the CRO, the COMSEC Manager shall perform duties necessary to maintain a compliant and mission-ready program. These duties include assisting the CRO by managing the daily lifecycle of cryptographic keys, maintaining an accurate inventory of all hardware and software, acting as a technical liaison to the base COMSEC office, preparing for and supporting inspections, and assisting in user training
Serve as the primary advisor and provider of hands-on assistance for controlling and managing COMSEC assets across telemetry systems, secure voice telecommunications, and data encryption for multiple high-priority developmental weapon programs
Load COMSEC keys prior to and during test missions, delivering critical, just-in-time cryptographic support to ensure uninterrupted secure operations
Provide expert guidance and oversight for maintaining all required inspections, calibrations, and certifications on ALCM FGT electronic test and support equipment, including coordinating on-site calibration activities
Set up the full suite of FGT equipment for testing, schedule range resources, coordinate visitors and, and conduct Functional Ground Tests (FGT) to support ALCM program milestones
Perform COMSEC Controlling Authority duties, administering cryptographic keys across multiple accounts to support weapon system developmental testing
Manage the full COMSEC lifecycle, including processing outgoing shipments to national test sites, facilitating inter-squadron transfers, and handling destruction reports for mission-expended assets
Conduct semi-annual and formal COMSEC inspections, prepare documentation (binders, requirements letters, safe consolidations), verify cryptographic asset locations across facilities, and achieve zero-deficiency results through meticulous preparation and adherence to national-level security protocols
Deliver flexible, emergent support for high-priority programs, including keying for test events, asset transfers, and last-minute mission requirements
Coordinate with cross-organizational stakeholders to resolve equipment shortfalls, deconflict schedules during major slips, and publish revised actionable test plans to prevent delays
Requirements:
3-10 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an applicable discipline
Must hold an active TS/SCI security clearance with a tier 5 background investigation and be eligible for Special Access Programs (SAP) access
Extensive experience in COMSEC management, including receipt, issuance, safeguarding, accounting, transfer, and destruction of cryptographic materials per NSA and DoD regulations (e.g., AFMAN 17-1302, CNSSI standards)
Hands-on experience with key loading, Controlling Authority duties, and support for secure test data in weapon system programs
Strong knowledge of electronic test equipment calibration, range scheduling, and multi-stakeholder coordination
Proven ability to maintain strict accountability for high-volume, high-value assets in classified environments
Excellent organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills with a focus on zero-defect performance
Ability to thrive in dynamic, mission-driven settings with emergent requirements
