Job Description

We are looking for a Computer System Security Specialist with strong programming and systems analysis experience to design, maintain, and enhance critical system software across enterprise environments. This role is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing operating systems, communication services, database components, compilers, and specialized utilities that ensure secure, efficient, and stable interactions between applications and system infrastructure. The specialist will play a key role in strengthening system integrity, improving performance, and ensuring secure, reliable operations across diverse platforms.

Job Responsibility

  • Design, develop, and maintain system-level software including operating systems components, communication modules, database packages, and compilers
  • Modify existing software to enhance functionality, improve security, and resolve operational issues
  • Develop custom, special-purpose software to improve system efficiency, interoperability, and stability
  • Analyze system specifications and business requirements to define programming and integration solutions
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and reliability of system interactions between applications and underlying infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective enhancements
  • Collaborate with engineers, administrators, and security personnel to support secure system operations
  • Prepare technical documentation, diagrams, and reference guides supporting developed or modified software
  • Conduct system analysis to evaluate performance, detect vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems analysis and programming, including work with system-level or utility software
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages used for systems development (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, Assembly)
  • Experience developing or maintaining operating system components, communication services, or database utilities
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, software integration, and secure coding practices
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and design effective solutions
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting secure or regulated environments (government, defense, financial, healthcare, etc.)
  • Familiarity with low-level systems programming, compilers, or kernel-level development
  • Exposure to DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as NIST, FISMA, or DISA STIGs
  • Relevant certifications such as: CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Linux+
  • GIAC certifications
  • ISC2 or ISACA certifications
